About our School

George Green's is a Humanities Specialist School and an International Baccalaureate school.

George Green was a successful business man who gave back to his community. We emulate this through extending our practice into our local community and beyond. Staff and students alike are very proud to be part of this learning community.

Our specialism is Humanities and our lead subjects are English, Drama and Citizenship, all areas of excellence within the curriculum. The work these departments do both within the school and in the community are stunning celebrations of what our students can do.

Our mantra is All Different All Equal, Learn Today, Succeed Tomorrow. We value each child no matter what their ability or disability.

Our job is to meet their individual needs through a personalised programme so each individual will achieve their personal best. In order to do this we have to be consistent in our approach but be flexible in our delivery. This is at the heart of our school's Equal Opportunity Policy which reminds us that: 'Equal Opportunities is not about treating everybody the same; it is about meeting individual needs.'

We have high expectations of our young people and of ourselves. We aim to create a calm and safe yet challenging learning culture where pupils can thrive and develop. Our goals for improvement in 2008/9 are raising achievement through:

  • Developing our learning culture by enabling pupils to become independent learners
  • Improved parental involvement and participation
  • Effective use of resources and best value to ensure our work is sustainable

We are very lucky to have many additional resources to help us achieve our aims through our Humanities Specialist School status, through our Training School programmes, as a Full Service Extended School and working in collaboration with eight local primary schools.

George Green's is a vibrant community. We believe the key to success for all our students is nurturing and encouraging them to find their true pathways so their educational journey will be one of enjoyment, hard work, dedication and resilience. We have a hard working and gifted staff, and parents who are committed to the school. Together we can all ensure our students achieve their aspirational identity.
