One Small Step is a community gardening project based in the Community House situated beside the school. Once the former school keepers' home, the Community House has been transformed into a hive of community activity accommodating meeting rooms for therapists and counsellors and housing a multi-sensory garden for young people.
Developed in partnership with Mudchute Park & Farm, the garden features various edible fruit and vegetables, herbs, a water feature and 2 beehives. Young people, local gardeners and beekeepers help to maintain the garden which promotes locally grown food and healthy eating.
Volunteers from Jones Lang Lasalle offered 2 full day's work to help clear the banks surrounding the beehives and hedges to provide new ground space for foraging bees to pave the way for future projects with young people in the community.
