A number of our fantastic 6th formers met with the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan yesterday through the school's partnership with the Osmani Trust.

On Wednesday, Mayor Sadiq Khan along with John Biggs [mayor of tower hamlets] and Asma Begum [deputy mayor of tower hamlets] visited the The Reach Community Hub in Blackwall as he announced plans for every vulnerable young Londoner to be able to access a mentor by 2024 and a pledge for youth services through the City hall and VRU investing in £7.2m. The event was organised and run by the Osmani Trust alongside many inspiring young people including a few of our very own Year 12 sixth formers- Shadia, Asiya, Yasmina and Mahir. They talked to the mayor about all the wonderful opportunities and projects they have done through the Osmani trust and our school. Shadia, Asiya and Yasmina talked to Sadiq khan, BBC and ITV news about their current project at school, funded by the Osmani Trust about tackling violence against women and young girls. Through Shadia and Asiya talking to Lib Peck, the director of the Violence and reduction unit at city hall about their current violence against women and girls project, Lib has offered to help with their project and create a valuable network. Mahir talked to the mayor and BBC News about how youth clubs and mentors help reduce crime and keep young people safe by providing valuable opportunities including Blackwall FC.
