Curriculum Overview

At George Green’s School we are committed to providing our students with a traditional, academic curriculum that introduces them to the best that has been thought and said, whilst developing an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.

It provides students with a broad and deep curriculum experience across the 3 key stages.
It is ambitious: the vast majority of our students study the English Baccalaureate, robust academic subjects that give them access to the best that has been thought and said
It is sequenced intelligently to allow for interleaving, spaced learning and retrieval practice (desirable difficulties)
Its design emphasises the importance of durable and flexible learning - so students retain powerful knowledge into adulthood
It is focused in the big curriculum picture, as captured in knowledge organisers
It provides opportunities for enrichment through clubs (including the Wednesdays Year 7 programme), trips and in-school experiences (e.g. the Aspiring Medics Programme)

We believe that an effective curriculum:

Produces high levels of academic excellence and transcends exam success
Emphasises the role of knowledge in developing the critical thinking skills that are necessary for a successful adulthood and empowers students to be good decision-makers
Prioritises the important cultural, scientific and social knowledge that will enable students to understand the changing world around them and their place in it
Prepares students for life as culturally, democratically and economically engaged citizens
Is engaging and fosters a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge
Recognises the importance of all learning, formal and informal
